Spices are something that no kitchen in the world can do without. They give food a special flavor and aroma, and many of them are also beneficial for health. One of the most popular and affordable spices today, perhaps, can be called coriander. It is widely used in cooking due to its wonderful aroma and very bright taste.

This plant is native to the East, but it is quite common in our area. Perhaps not everyone knows that coriander greens are the well-known cilantro. Some people tend to think of coriander and cilantro as different plants, but this is not the case. Cilantro contains a lot of vitamins and other substances useful for the human body. It is consumed both fresh and dry or frozen. The seeds of this plant at the first time of ripening have a rather unpleasant odor, and in their mature form they are coriander - a well-known spice.

Coriander is used in the manufacture of various flour products, as well as in the preparation of dishes from fish, meat, various marinades, kvass and some types of soups. Coriander is often found in various seasoning mixes. Coriander is also used in the perfumery industry. In addition, it is widely used in pharmacology, since coriander oil has a powerful antibacterial effect. Also, the seeds of this plant improve digestion and have a beneficial effect on the genitourinary system. It is believed that coriander is a good aphrodisiac and earlier it was even included in some love potions.

We have very good soil for planting coriander, but for the second time we have not been able to get a good harvest. Therefore, advice to everyone who wants to grow it:

  1. Read the date on the seed package carefully. She must be up to a year old;
  2. Before sowing, the well should be well moistened;
  3. The landing site should not be too sunny.

I really like the smell of the seeds of this plant. I add them when preparing various meat and vegetable dishes. But regarding greens, I like cilantro less, although I eat salads with it.
