Large nasturtium and its cultivation

Large nasturtium is distinguished by its bright color of flowers, which creates a spectacular contrast with rich green leaves. Among the advantages of this plant, one can single out its relative unpretentiousness in care. But it should be borne in mind that the nasturtium flower is thermophilic, and therefore it does not tolerate even the slightest frost.

Growing nasturtium

First of all, let's pay attention to the soil. It shouldn't be too rich and nutritious. The plant prefers light but well-drained soil. As for the landing sites, nasturtium feels comfortable in sunny, shaded areas that are reliably protected from the wind.

Caring for nasturtium includes fertilizing. Moreover, when choosing them, one should give preference to mineral rather than organic dressings. The fact is that because of the "organic matter" the nasturtium will grow too intensively, but at the same time it will practically stop blooming.

It is also necessary to observe the correct water regime. Large nasturtium, a photo of which allows you to imagine all the beauty of this ornamental plant, needs regular moderate watering. During prolonged droughts and the growing season, watering can be increased slightly, but so that the water does not stagnate.

If you are specifically interested in growing nasturtium on the balcony, then seedlings should be sown in April. Since the plant has a very delicate root system, it does not tolerate transplanting well. To make this process less harmful to the flower, grow the seedlings in peat cups.

I love this flower. Now is the period of its flowering. Always pleasing to the eye - beautiful flowers, delicate stems. To make them big, we fertilize the soil in autumn with leaf crumbs ash. Nasturtium liked it. The main thing is to collect the seeds in time and dry them.
