How Salvia brilliant is different

In urban conditions, brilliant salvia is very common. It is also called sage. The rich species assortment of the plant made it possible to choose the most unpretentious and bright variety. But the description of the brilliant salvia is much more interesting.

Salvia brilliant - original plant

This is a genus of perennial herbaceous family Yasnotkovye. In a standard representative, the leaves are simple, possibly feathery. The cup comes in several forms:

  • Bell-shaped;
  • Tubular;
  • Tubular bell-shaped;
  • Conical.

When the fruiting period comes, it increases slightly. The upper lip is tridentate. The corolla is always two-lipped. The upper lip is helmet-shaped, sickle-shaped, or straight. In size, the middle lobe at the lower part of the lip is noticeably larger than the lateral ones. In rare cases, it is equal to the side ones.

The plant has only 2 stamens, the column is filiform. The stigma type is two-lobed. The plant has egg-shaped nuts, rounded in shape, in rare cases with three sides, smooth.

The genus Sage is very rich - about 900 species. This is one of the prerequisites that made it so widespread on earth. Salvia is native to temperate and tropical regions from all over the planet. The only exception was Australia. In America, at least 500 species grow in natural conditions. In nature, the plant prefers sunny places. They are easy to find in meadows, light forests, on rocky slopes, in wastelands.

In Russian, sage is usually called a plant that is medicinal, and its decorative derivatives are called salvia. In Europe, Salvia brilliant appeared later, almost in the 18th century, quickly gaining its niche in ornamental gardening.
