We figure out how to care for peonies

How to care for peonies? This question is asked by all growers who have recently acquired these lush spring beauties. But in fact, there is no special need to worry about caring for peonies: the content of these flowers is very simple.

Speaking about how to care for peonies, first of all, it is worth mentioning the importance of spring preparation for forcing, which consists in watering the plants with a solution of potassium permanganate prepared in a proportion of two to three grams per ten liters of water. This amount of solution is enough for one or two bushes. Thanks to this, the soil will be disinfected, as well as the acceleration of the growth of buds and roots and the protection of the bushes from damage by gray rot. Only sprouts that have hatched from the ground should be sprayed with a burgundy liquid, and the earth around them should be carefully loosened. For faster development of bushes and obtaining large full flowers, three or four additional dressings are required. For the first one should use ammonium nitrate, and for the subsequent ones - a mixture of it, potassium salt and superphosphate.

In the spring, it will also not be superfluous to add mulch in the form of humus, and during the budding period - feeding with mullein solution. Finally, the last fertilization should be carried out already in August: during this period, humus should be applied under each bush. It is also very important to keep the soil loose, especially when it comes to young bushes. As for watering, it should be carried out twice a month, increasing its abundance at the beginning of summer, during the development and formation of buds, and also when the formation of flower and growth buds begins.
