Does sunflower seed need preliminary preparation for planting

One of the most attractive garden plants in appearance can rightfully be called a sunflower. It is not only beautiful, but also useful, because the sunflower seed has a number of useful properties that are used even in folk medicine or cosmetology.

Growing sunflowers is easy enough - just throw a few seeds into the soil and wait for them to germinate. But for the best germination, many gardeners are interested in the question - does a sunflower seed need preliminary preparation for planting?

It depends on the varieties of seeds. For normal germination, it is often enough just to sort out the seed. For this, large, whole sunflower seeds are selected and planted in the soil. Sometimes they are soaked for 14 days in a weak solution of potassium permanganate, which provides them with a kind of protection from pests, and also accelerates their shoots.

It is necessary to sow a sunflower early, but when the earth is already well warmed up, the sunflower rises for a long time. The earth should warm up to + 8-10 degrees at a depth of 8 cm, while the air temperature should be at least + 15 degrees. Seeds sown early are hardened faster in cool soil at night, which means they are more resistant to temperature extremes in summer. The most optimal period for planting sunflower seeds is considered to be the 15th day after plowing the land. It is recommended to cover seeds that have not sprouted in vegetable gardens so that they are not found by birds that notice "potential" food from a height.
