Field bindweed and its cultivation

Surely, the field bindweed is familiar to absolutely every person from childhood. It is a perennial plant that has recumbent, long stems, sometimes reaching a length of 75 cm. If we consider specifically the field bindweed, then it has a white or light pink color.

You can observe its flowering from May to September. Bindweed seeds are sown outdoors in May. After 7 days, seedlings appear, which must be immediately thinned out, so that there is a distance of about 15 cm between them. The plant grows very quickly, especially in the presence of abundant watering and a sufficient amount of mineral fertilizers.

How to grow bindweed from seeds?

It is generally accepted that field bindweed is considered a weed that grows by itself, and does not need to be looked after at all. In fact, Moorish bindweed and tricolor bindweed are most commonly grown. These two varieties are considered decorative, and therefore they can perfectly decorate your garden area or alpine slide.

As for the Moorish bindweed, it blooms with delicate lilac flowers. It is often planted in a hanging planter along with other ampelous plants. But the tricolor bindweed looks harmoniously with other abundantly flowering representatives of the flora. Some gardeners even grow bindweed on a balcony or loggia to recreate a natural atmosphere. Considering that caring for the bindweed is elementary, it is a pleasure to grow it. It is ideal for those people who have just started to get acquainted with the basics of landscape design.
