Rosehip seedlings

Rosehip is one of the most popular types of garden plants. He won great love due to the large amount of nutrients contained in its fruits, as well as the beautiful decorative appearance of the bushes, which look great both during the flowering period, covered with roses, and during the ripening of the fruits, which have a beautiful bright red color.

Rosehip propagates by cuttings, seeds, layering and rhizome suckers. However, if you want to plant this plant for the first time in your garden, it is better to do this with seedlings. It is recommended to take rosehip seedlings about two to three years old. Plants should be well developed and have 2-4 main branches. For good results, it is recommended that you select several varieties of rosehip seedlings and plant all the bushes in one place. In this case, the plants will pollinate each other and give a very good harvest.

The preparation of seedlings for planting consists in pruning the shoots so that as a result their length is no more than 15 cm, but not less than 12 cm. The same applies to the roots. Rosehip seedlings are best planted in well-lit places, since this plant is quite light-loving. You can use for this both separate pits for each bush, and a common trench.

The first year after planting, rosehip seedlings should be watered very abundantly and often, however, avoiding stagnation of water and the formation of a swamp. But you can take your time with fertilizers. As a rule, in the case of growing rose hips, it is recommended to start applying them no earlier than the third year of the plant's life.

I heard that roses, if they do not prune and take care of them in time, can turn into a rosehip, I don’t know how much this is actual, I didn’t have to take care of roses. It seems to me that rose hips are better than roses, at least there is some benefit from it.

And if you do not take care of the rosehip, it quickly degenerates into a wild one and behaves like the most noxious weed, slaughtering all its neighbors. Rosehip is also good to use as a hedge, do not go through it

I didn’t know that planting a rose hip requires such a complicated procedure. I often have the opposite problem, when a rose bush eventually turns into a rosehip, and I have to tinker in order to completely uproot it.
