Horny Goat Weed is unpretentious and stable. It is a perennial, it can suffer in cold, snowless winters. Life expectancy is up to 10 years. It blooms best in partial shade, but bright light and shade are not afraid of it.

The soil is best suited to moist, fresh, loose, clay-dung or sandy-dung, with neutral acidity, fertile. Horny Goat Weed does not like excessive waterlogging, so do not place it in flooded areas.

Horny Goat Weed reproduces by segments of rhizomes. the transplant is carried out from August to early September. Parts of the rhizome containing 2-3 buds are planted in a hole 4-6 centimeters deep, covered with a leaf. Before planting, the seeds are kept for 2 weeks at 15-20 degrees, then 1 month in the cold, at a temperature of 2-5 degrees. Seedlings develop rapidly, but only bloom for 3-4 years. The distance between them is 35-40 cm. The Horny Goat Weed is planted in small groups of 5-8 specimens.

For the winter, cover the plant roots with compost. With the onset of spring, prune old leaves at the level of the soil immediately after the snow melts. Intensive feeding is not needed, it is quite enough to apply fertilizer annually, in the spring.

Mountain goats are actively used for landscaping areas in a group with various perennials. In spring they delight with pleasant flowering, in autumn and summer - with lush foliage. It goes well with primroses, hosta, ferns, tiarella, lungwort, small-bulbous, cereals.
