It is possible to grow a strong and healthy plant even in an apartment environment. To do this, you need to choose the right planting material:

  • Most often, spruce is grown from seed. Seeds must be collected in the autumn from cones in squares or parks. The cones that you have collected must be kept until they open.
  • After that, seeds are carefully tapped out of them.
  • Spruce seeds can also be purchased at specialized stores.

The seeds must be preserved in the winter, since the spruce is planted in the spring. To this end, they are processed in a manganese solution, which will provide them with a high level of protection against a variety of pests and diseases. It is necessary to store the seeds in a dark and warm place.

It is necessary to soak the seeds in a manganese solution for no more than half an hour.

For storage, the seeds are placed in an airtight bag with wet sand. If the dormant period is observed, the seeds will grow after planting in the same way as in natural conditions.

Spruce seeds are planted in two stages:

  1. Planting seeds
  2. Planting seedlings

With the onset of spring, it is necessary to plant spruce seeds. They must be planted in a greenhouse or in a specially prepared pot. Before the seeds are planted, they are immersed in warm water for one day.

When planting seeds in the soil, it must be remembered that they do not need to be deeply buried, as this will lead to their prolonged germination or death in general.

Secrets of growing spruce:

  • Seeds must be carefully laid out on top of the soil and sprinkled with moist soil. In this case, the layer thickness should be no more than one centimeter.
  • After planting the seeds, the soil is covered with something transparent on top. The ideal option for this would be plastic wrap.
  • A greenhouse or a container covered with a film must be protected from direct sunlight.
  • Before the first shoots appear, it is necessary to monitor soil moisture level... At the same time, it is strictly forbidden to overmoisten it, otherwise it will lead to the death of the plant.

Before young seedlings appear, the soil must be regularly loosened, allowing oxygen to reach them. This action should be performed as carefully as possible so as not to damage the root system of the fir trees. Young spruce must be fertilized regularly during the first year of life. The ideal option for this would be fallen needlesI or peat, with the help of which the aisle of the seedling is produced.

Spruce planting in the ground

Spruce planting in the ground

After the seedlings have grown up, they must be planted in the ground. This action is performed two years after sowing the seeds in the spring. For planting spruce, only a strong and healthy seedling is used. Next, it is imperative to check the condition of the roots of the spruce. It is best to take seedlings that have an earthen lump on the root system. Spruce roots should have white tips, which indicates their activity. If the root system of the seedling is violated, it may not take root.

The tree is planted in late May or early April, at a time when its buds have not yet come to life.

Planting a spruce during this period is necessary in order for it to cope with stress as quickly as possible. Sometimes gardeners plant in August-September. This is due to the fact that during this period the spruce buds grow very actively, which ensures quick engraftment.

How to plant a fir tree correctly:

  • Prepare a pit for planting this plant in advance. This is usually done two weeks before disembarkation.
  • If the seedling is large, then the diameter of the recess should be about one meter, and its depth should be 70-80 centimeters.
  • It is necessary to pour a mixture into the planting pit, which includes compost, needles, humus and bone meal. You can also apply mineral fertilizers in advance.
  • In order for the Christmas tree to finally start and get stronger, it is best to apply fertilizer after planting in the spring.
  • The seedling, together with the earthen clod, is placed in the planting pit. Its diameter should be slightly smaller than the planting pit. In this case, the spruce must be slightly raised and covered with earth.
  • In order for the tree to not settle over time, when the pit is covered with earth, it must be dragged along behind it.
  • The root collar of the seedling must necessarily be level with the ground.
  • Next to the spruce, you need to drive a peg to which the spruce is tied with a rope.
  • A roller of earth is made around the seedling, and sawdust is poured under the plant.
  • After that, the spruce is watered.

This ends the planting of the plant. If all these rules are followed, the tree will fully grow and develop.
