Giant passionflower - an unusual star and its cultivation

Many plants in our latitudes are cultivated for their unusual leaves, stems and, of course, flowers. one of such unusual flowers is the giant liana-like passionflower. Because of its large flowers, very similar to a star, this plant in the common people received the name "cavalier's star", and this flower is also called passion flower - this is how this name is translated from Italian - passion flower.

Giant passionflower really looks like a liana, in which the stem and very large leaves are lignified - up to 20 cm in diameter. The plant can be shaped as you like, because thanks to its antennae, it can climb any support and cling to it. Unusual beautiful flowers smell very nice, they can reach 12 cm in diameter, and their variety amazes even the most experienced flower growers.

Giant passionflower is very easy to grow from seeds, and they must be planted already at the end of February - beginning of March. As a rule, the seeds sprout within two weeks. but for this they must be properly processed before planting - rub them a little with sandpaper with light touches and immerse the seeds for 12-20 hours in citrus juice - lemon, orange, tangerine. It is necessary to plant seeds to a depth of three diameters of the seed itself, sprinkle with water and cover with glass.

The optimum temperature for germination is + 20-25 degrees, moderate soil moisture and high air humidity are simply necessary for it, so from time to time the seeds need to be ventilated, sprinkled and even glass must be looked after - wash the steam and turn it over with the dry side to the plants.
