Blackroot is a useful herb, but be careful with it!

 

Wild black root medicinal grows like a weed, along roadsides, on forest edges, and is found in garden plots. It is called differently - scrofulous grass, cat soap, dog tongue. The plant is two years old, its height can reach a meter, the stem is pubescent and branched only in the upper part. Its bright red flowers are gathered in panicles. The plant blooms from May to August, the fruits of the black root have sharp thorns and cling to animal hair and clothing. The plant has a rather unpleasant smell, mousey.
 
At the summer cottage, you can grow black root medicinal without any problems - the plant is unpretentious and does not require special care.
 
Blackroot can be used as a medicine, it has a strong analgesic effect, it is used for
  • fractures,
  • arthritis,
  • inflammatory processes,
  • rheumatism.

For treatment, a decoction of fresh or dried leaves of a plant is used, making compresses from it.

 
The plant must be handled very carefully, it is highly poisonous. The broth should not be taken in the mouth; after making the compress, hands must be thoroughly washed.
 
  • Experienced gardeners use black root decoction to combat caterpillars and aphids.
  • Also, black root is a good remedy for scaring away rodents and mice from the beds. Rats and mice cannot even stand the smell of a plant.
  • To protect fruit trees, it is enough to scatter some chopped leaves or stems over the snow, or to process a couple of square meters around the tree with an infusion of grass.
 
Also, it should not be confused with the black root medicinal, a completely different plant, the scorzoner, which is popularly called the black root.
