Maidenhair care

The maidenhair fern has about 200 species, all of them are tropical terrestrial perennials, and therefore from the middle strip they can only be cultivated as indoor plants. Caring for the maidenhair is not very difficult, just remember that the plant needs high humidity, it should be regularly sprayed twice a day with settled soft water at room temperature. It must be watered with the same water, preventing the substrate from drying out, otherwise the beautiful branches of this plant will dry out. over-watering also harms the plant and can even lead to its death.

Maidenhair grows well in bright rooms, but not in direct sunlight. The plant tolerates partial shade. According to the teachings of Feng Shui, it should be placed in the bedroom, where this plant contributes to the harmonization of the personality. Ferns do especially well near aquariums. The room temperature should not be lower than 20 degrees in summer and 15 degrees in winter. In summer, once every 2-3 weeks, maidenhair is fed with liquid fertilizer for flowers, using only half of the recommended dose.

Caring for the maidenhair involves transplanting it into a large container as it grows. This should be done in the spring, the substrate should consist of turf and leafy soil, with the addition of sand, peat and small pieces of charcoal. Dead roots and twigs are removed. The maidenhair propagates by dividing the bush and spores. In indoor conditions, the division of the bush is usually used; it is very difficult to grow a plant from spores. Of the pests for ferns, scale insects and mealybugs are especially dangerous.
