Wintering horsetail - natural nail file

Many plants in nature are of particular interest not only to amateur flower growers, but also to ordinary observant people. You cannot find two identical plants that would be completely similar, even of the same genus. And some plants are completely different from each other in their structure and qualities, although the name is the same. A striking example of such a plant is the wintering horsetail.

Unlike other varieties of horsetail, this type has a rather elastic stem, which almost always has a regular cylindrical shape. In the hands of a wintering horsetail, the stem of a wintering horsetail immediately feels particularly tough and dense. You can even file nails with such a stem, and its structure is really very similar to a nail file. Well, such a special density is given to the plant by a special substance in the composition of horsetail tissues - silica, which does not burn even in fire.

If you set fire to a wintering horsetail, then only its soft upper tissues will burn, and the "skeleton" will remain, which, by the way, can scare you terribly at night.
The name of the wintering horsetail speaks for itself - this plant can easily withstand even in the most severe frosts alive, and even under a layer of thick snow the wintering horsetail continues to grow.

Many gardeners consider horsetail a weed, because because of its creeping rhizome, it is quite difficult to get rid of it in personal plots. But in Siberia, this plant is widespread as a folk remedy for the treatment of the human genitourinary system, diseases of the genital organs, especially in women, and simply as a hemostatic agent.
