Growing a delphinium from seeds is an exciting process

Of course, you can buy seedlings of delphiniums ready-made. But growing a delphinium from seeds will be much cheaper, in addition, this fascinating process will bring real pleasure to an amateur - a florist. To grow beautiful strong plants, you need to know some secrets.

In order for the seeds not to lose their germination, they must be stored in the refrigerator, hermetically packed. To get plants that will bloom in the first year, you need to sow seeds in the month of February. For sowing seeds, you need to prepare plastic cups with transparent lids. The soil should be steamed, then pour it in cups with a solution of Previkur, a fungicide that will protect future seedlings from bacterial and fungal diseases.

Seeds on the soil surface should be spread out at a distance of 2-3 cm from each other and covered with washed river sand by 5-7 mm. The cups then need to be closed with a lid, or you can use a plastic bag and refrigerate for two weeks. At the next stage, we take out the cups from the refrigerator and put them in a well-lit and warm enough place, where the temperature reaches 25 degrees. It will take 3 to 12 days for seeds to germinate.

In the future, seedlings will require moving to a well-lit windowsill. The temperature should be within 20 degrees. To create comfortable conditions for plants, you can also use a phytolamp. Throughout this time, the cultivation of a delphinium from seeds is carried out under a lid or film. Open containers when the plants are already cramped. Watering should be done moderately. A large amount of moisture can cause fungal infections.

Plants must be picked when the third true leaf appears. Now for each plant you need a separate cup. To improve the survival rate of plants, you can treat them with root roots. The first feeding can be done two weeks after the pick. The main task during this period is to harden the plants and accustom them to open sunlight. This is done carefully and gradually.

The delphinium is planted in the ground at the end of the spring frost. Delphiniums grown from seeds will delight you with their flowering at the beginning of August.

I had a not entirely successful experience of growing delphiniums. I got tired of them - these flowers sprout very badly. But I didn't know that the seeds should be stored in the refrigerator without opening ... Perhaps this was my problem!
