Basil seedlings and cultivation

Basil seedlings are pre-grown if the climatic conditions of the region do not allow choosing another alternative method. The fact is that seeds should be planted in the soil when there is no risk of a sharp cold snap.

Growing basil

Seedlings are planted at the end of March. For this, seed boxes are prepared, in which they add earth and make shallow grooves in it, the distance between which is 4 cm. The soil needs to be watered a little.

Subject to the temperature regime (22-26 degrees) and in the presence of good lighting, you will see the first sprouts in 1-2 weeks. As soon as a real sheet appears, a pick is immediately necessary.

Of course, the cultivation of basil is inextricably linked with the application of mineral fertilizers. If the seedlings have several formed leaves, they can be planted in open ground.

As you can see, before growing basil, you need to study some of the nuances. In particular, the plant is very delicate, and therefore, if the soil is waterlogged, it can get sick with a black leg.

Basil, which can even be grown at home, grows well in the land where its predecessors were cucumbers, tomatoes, potatoes and legumes.

By the way, the beneficial properties of basil lie in the fact that it perfectly protects our body from bacterial and fungal infections. Therefore, in many countries, basil is so common in cooking. It goes well with meat and fish dishes; it is added to vegetable salads seasoned with olive oil.

And I wanted to conquer nature and grow it at home on the windowsill in winter (December). The seeds sprouted together, but then they stretched out into white threads of 5-8 cm and died. Does anyone have experience in growing it during this period without complicated techniques?

I love all sorts of spices and herbs, so we always plant basil. He is not whimsical at all, we sit right in the open ground. And then it dissipates on its own and the next year you don't need to plant it, which is very convenient.
