Garden strawberry care

If you are not happy with the strawberry harvest at your summer cottage, then the necessary care for the garden strawberries is not being followed.

Ridges with strawberry bushes should be planted on the sunny side of the site. She does not like the neighborhood with potatoes, eggplants, peppers, tomatoes. Before planting, add humus and compost to the ground.

On hot days, watering strawberries 2-3 times a week, but during flowering, it is recommended to reduce watering. Be sure to feed the bushes with slurry once a season: add a bucket of manure to 200 liters of water, let it brew for a week, and then dilute the resulting mass with a bucket of water.

To prevent diseases, spray strawberries with a solution of horse sorrel: insist a bucket of water with sorrel for a week, and then process the plants.

In order for the yield to be higher, it is necessary to remove shoots and whiskers, regularly weed and loosen the aisles.

After harvesting, fill the beds with rotted manure.

Strawberry bushes need light, so don't plant more than 4 plants per square meter. Thickened plantings give less yield and are more susceptible to various diseases.

In autumn, all yellowed leaves must be removed from the strawberries. Bushes during this period also continue to grow, forming new roots, flower buds, stems, so the plant needs watering.

In winter we have very cold and little snow, under such conditions the strawberries freeze out. For the winter, we cover it with acrylic and cover it with a thick layer of fallen birch leaves, which we press down with boards from above. In the spring, this foliage can be covered in greenhouses or under a layer of soil for zucchini.
