How to make strawberry beds correctly?

Strawberry beds should be laid at the end of summer, and this is best done in the late afternoon or in rainy, cloudy weather. In this case, the bushes will have enough time to start before they begin to feel the effects of the scorching sun. This culture is extremely light-loving, which must be taken into account when choosing a planting site. So, strawberry beds should be located on an area that has a very slight slope, and at the same time is protected from strong winds, which will blow off the snow cover in winter. This culture will feel great not in an open area, but in the aisles of some other culture, for example, currants or gooseberries.

Work on preparing the soil should begin a few weeks before planting the bushes, so that it has time to settle a little. The site must be rid of weeds, and the soil on it must be carefully dug up and leveled. Do not forget about fertilization: for this purpose, a mixture of ash, superphosphate and humus is best suited.

Before planting, each outlet should be carefully examined and all dried and diseased leaves should be removed from it, while not forgetting to trim the roots. You need to plant it like this: first, dig shallow holes, flood them with water, then lower the strawberry bushes, carefully spread the root system, sprinkle with soil, press the roots as tightly as possible and pour water again (this time it must be warm). It is also important to make sure that the growing point is exactly at the level of the soil.
