How to care for violets?

For me, the most capricious of all common indoor flowers is the violet. These flowers are very beautiful, delicate and graceful. In addition, they can often be seen on window sills. But the question of how to care for violets so that they grow healthy and bloom beautifully remains a mystery for many.

Violet Uzambara or Saintpaulia, and this is how these beautiful plants are correctly called, came to us from afar, because the Uzambara mountains (hence the name of the flower), which are located on the border of Kenya and Tanzania, are considered its homeland. The fabulous beauty and mystery of these places is embodied in the violet-flowered Saintpaulia, which is so popular in Russia.

How to grow a violet so that it pleases with its beauty? To do this, you need to imagine the place where the violet comes from - a tropical forest, with the sun's rays scattered through dense greenery, warm, but not scalding air, long drought seasons with high air humidity. So, the fantasy worked, it remains only to embody these conditions in a room on the territory of Russia.

Diffused light. To do this, it is best not to put the violet on the sill of the south window. Or place the plant in the back of the room. In order for the flower to grow evenly in all directions, the pot of saintpaulia must be periodically turned in different directions. So the plant will receive sunlight evenly.

The temperature regime must be stable. The room temperature for good growth and flowering of violets should be in the range of 20-25 degrees. When the temperature fluctuates in one direction or another, the plant will simply stop blooming. It is for this reason that the violet does not like drafts. Well, where have you seen a draft in the rainforest?

It is necessary to water the violet very carefully, it does not tolerate stagnant water (I was convinced from my own experience), but having created an increased air humidity around Saintpaulia, you can be sure of her gratitude. The air around the violet must be saturated with moisture using a spray bottle, installing a fountain or humidifier nearby.

Yes, the violet is capricious, but if you pay a little more attention to it, taking care of creating favorable conditions for this wonderful plant, and it will thank you with lush, amazingly beautiful flowering.

Good luck!

Very beautiful flowers, but really finicky. I refused to grow them, because I often go on business trips, and they die without leaving.

Once I received a very beautiful blooming violet as a gift. During the first year, it bloomed often and abundantly, in the second - already less, and in the third - it stopped completely. As I understand now, due to improper care.

I have some violets growing in pots with automatic watering :-) I am self-employed, to be more precise, I breed plants. Wholesale pots were needed.
