Caring for cineraria as a houseplant

Cineraria is one of those plants that attract attention not only with flowers, but also with their unusually beautiful carved silvery leaves. Currently, there are many types of this plant. It can grow:

  • outdoors;
  • as a houseplant;
  • in the form of herbaceous perennials or shrubs.
Consider what kind of care is needed for cineraria if it is grown in a room. This plant needs bright diffused light. But not in direct sunlight, which means it should not be placed on the southern windowsill.

The most suitable temperature for cineraria is 15-18 degrees, although it can withstand higher temperatures provided there is good air humidity. Therefore, it is preferable that the pot with it stood on a pallet with damp pebbles. From time to time, you should spray the air nearby, trying not to wet the flowers and leaves of the cineraria, which does not like it, with water. But she likes fresh air, which is why it is advisable to ventilate the room more often without causing a draft.

With regard to watering, we can say that it should be abundant. A lot of water is what she needs. For watering, it is better to use warm, settled water. However, it is important not to overdo it or overmoisten the plant. Watering is carried out at the root, avoiding the ingress of water on flowers and leaves.

In order to maintain the appearance, cineraria care does not have to be any special. It consists in the timely removal of dried leaves and flowers, which helps to extend the period of its flowering.

Cineraria grows best on nutritious soil in combination with various kinds of fertilizers.

Thus, caring for this plant is not particularly difficult. There is only one caveat - after flowering, the bush will die.
