Reproduction of yucca in different ways

Yucca propagation can be done in several ways:

  • offspring;
  • branching;
  • segments of stems;
  • seeds.

Reproduction of yucca by offspring

If the care of the yucca is correct, then in the first year of its life you can get new plants, and the removal of excess shoots will benefit a young palm tree. In order for it to develop normally, no more than 5 processes must be left. The separated offspring should be planted in moist sand and after 2 months they will have roots.

Forking yucca

To do this, during the growth period (in spring or early summer) in a young plant, more than 30 cm in height, it is necessary to cut off the top with a sharp knife. The stalk should be up to 15 cm long, and a larger number of leaves must remain on the cut yucca. Sprinkle the cut with charcoal.
The stalk can be rooted, and the pruned plant will release new shoots.

Propagation of yucca by cut stems

In some flower shops you can buy yucca stalks that take root fairly well and quickly. The segment must be placed in a growth stimulator for several days, and planted in bulk in the ground to a depth of 5 cm. Until the plant releases leaves, it should be watered abundantly.

Seed propagation

Can be propagated by yucca and seeds. The main thing is that they are fresh. Before sowing, it is advisable to soak yucca seeds for a day in warm water, and then sow in a light mixture of sand, turf and leafy soil. Cover the crops with glass and wipe and ventilate it every day. After about a month, the seeds will germinate.
